Spektrum goes to the Orange County Fair!

Spektrum goes to the Orange County Fair!

While it’s hard to believe, this year’s Orange County fair has once again come and gone. Another year has gone on by and passed us up. It seems that every year time goes faster, and things are constantly changing. Maybe it’s just part of growing up, or maybe it’s what happens when you become a responsible adult (it’s a good thing you can’t see that I’m trying really hard to contain my laughter). But, while I could sit here and feel sad for myself, the truth is, that that just means it’s once again time for one of my favorite shows, The Orange County Fair.

While the years may pass, there’s one thing that stays the same. No matter what day you decide to go to the fair, there are always lots of people there. It’s an event, and it’s definitely one that everyone comes to. To live in the OC, you have definitely heard of this show. But, what is the OC Fair?

Taking place at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, this show you would think takes over a few blocks. A massive showcase of food, beer and all the things that make grown-ups (and kids alike) giggle, the Orange County Fair is always oodles of fun. Feeling like a kid is a special thing, and this Fair definitely lets folks go back.

Just driving into the fair you break through an invisible wall of sensory overload. From the flashing lights, spinning ferris wheels and giant teddy bears to pizza on a stick and deep fried kool-aid, this show is a shell shock to everyone that goes. At almost every turn there is something for everyone. It’s definitely no wonder that no matter the day, you are sure to find a pretty big crowd there. But, while milking cows or feeding pigs is pretty awesome in itself, I think it’s the food that sets it apart.

The cornucopia of food is almost mind searing. I mean, it’s only at the fair that you can find deep-fried anything and not feel like a total fatty eating it (just barely. lol). The fat kid in me definitely came out when I saw deep fried gansitos. It’s pretty amazing I must say. If you’ve never had a Gansito, you might want to take a chance on life. You’ll be glad you did. But, the crazy thing about the fair, I think is,  in a lot of ways, the food represents what it is that makes the fair so amazing. You have people coming in from all over Orange County (and from around the world subsequently), coming to enjoy each others company and to partake in all the things you wouldn’t normally do on a day to day basis. It, in a lot of ways is something that we at Spektrum can get behind, and it’s something we totally recommend to everyone. Bringing people and cultures together under the banner of fun. What more can you ask for in life? It’s like we always say. If it’s artery clogging and there are shiny things anywhere to be had, then we definitely want in. Oh yeah!

Check out some of the awesomeness we saw at the Fair. We’re sure to see you at the next one. Just like this one that just passed, the next one is just around the corner.
