Southern California is a special place to live in. Home to so many iconic monuments, locations and personalities known the world over, it’s hard to point to just one thing that makes it special. But, for those that know, for those really, truly know, Southern California is the home of the automobile. At every corner of the state, large and small, cars are all over the place. It is, and always has been the perfect setting for the car. But, what is it about SoCal, that makes this true? Maybe its the fact that just about everything that SoCal is makes it the perfect place to drive. The perfect place to get lost in ones self and the perfect place to be one with the car.
From sunny skies and palm trees with a near-zero humidity climate year-round, Southern California paints a scene that makes all car owners proud to be here. On pretty much every given day or weekend you can find a car show or meet going on. People are drawn together by this machine that is as much an extension of them as is their clothes. From the time we are able to drive, until the time we can’t do it anymore, driving is in our blood. Just a ride onto any highway in the late evening will definitely prove that. Thousands, if not millions of cars spread all across the Southern California region. In other words, Southern California is the perfect place to show off any new car. After all, we get pretty much every car manufactured across the planet to run across our streets. That’s why when one show comes to town year after year, people stand up and notice. Car enthusiasts and fans all look one way when this show comes to town. This show is none other than the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Host to hundreds (if not thousands) of conventions year-round, the Los Angeles Convention Center is home to the LA Auto Show. Far and away, this is one of the largest of those shows, and goes on for quite a bit of time. This show plays host to the biggest car manufacturers on the planet (from exotics and a few smaller ones), and brings their newest toys for all the world to see. It really is a fantastic show and often times the first place to see the debuts of some of these cars. This time for example was the first time the public was able to see the Chevrolet Chaparral and a few other exotics. Its this level of ‘wow’ factor, and the open availability for the fans that makes this show a memorable one. Toyota unveiled their FT-1 Concept, and Infiniti had the Red Bull Formula 1 car. Just pickings of the many upon memorable moments to be witnessed at the show.
Walking around the showroom floor, and seeing the level of comfort that people have with these machines is truly special. We as drivers here in SoCal, spend whole years of our lives in cars and so it’s almost a requirement that we be connected to our vehicles. The LA Autoshow offers up a space for everyone to see something that they really want to. It’s really nice to see what new innovations will be coming to our cars in the future. Digital diaplays, electronic controls and auto-driving cars were just some of the fantastic inventions that we’ll be seeing soon. With so much to see, we cannot wait to see what this new year, and next show will bring. As usual, it is sure to captivate us and the fans
